Conditions
Are you eligible?
During the introductory call, we check your situation against the conditions. When you apply, you sign a declaration on your honour. This overview lists the main conditions; we also check your legal form, your activity and any funding you have already received.
- An SME according to the European SME definition, or a recognised social enterprise.
- No negative equity on the date of application.
- A branch in the Flemish Region.
- You meet the de minimis conditions for state aid.
- Does your SME fall under NIS2? Then choose MEDIUM or PLUS.
Application and funding
Assess your situation first, then choose the programme
During the intake, we check your objectives, IT environment and improvement potential against the conditions. We also take into account your legal form, main activity, the private nature of your company and any funding for an improvement programme in the past four years.
Once funding is approved, VLAIO pays its share directly to the service provider and you pay your own share. The amounts in the overview are excluding VAT and assume 50% funding for an SME or social enterprise.
The funding helps you improve your cybersecurity. Certification can be a next step, but it is not a guaranteed outcome of the programme.
External certification costs and recurring managed service contracts are not covered by this funding. See the current funding rules on the VLAIO website.

A working day equals one day of expert time. The effort is spread over the agreed activities of the programme.

Flexible
Upgrade, extend and beyond
You can start with a realistic programme and extend it as you learn more.
- Switch from START to MEDIUM or PLUS, or from MEDIUM to PLUS, while the programme is running.
- Extensions are only available with MEDIUM or PLUS and must be requested within 6 months of completion.
- After the VLAIO programme, the Sustain services take care of ongoing follow-up.
